Once freshman year of college was finally over, I decided that I would have no crushes over the summer. I forbid myself to. I was emotionally exhausted and didn’t want to deal with boys anymore. One of my good friends, Kristina, invited me to join her church’s young adults Bible study on Wednesday nights. I decided to check it out.
The Bible study was fairly small. There were probably five guys and three girls that night, including me and Kristina. The other girl happened to be one of my friends from high school, Elise. The first night of Bible study was uneventful. We simply introduced ourselves, the leader introduced the topic we would be discussing over the summer, and that was it.
A week from that Friday, the group planned a get together at the house of one of our members. I rode with Kristina and Elise to his house. His property was gorgeous! It was huge, had a pond, a barn, lots of animals, and so much more! I fell in love with it immediately.
The boys were swimming in the pond while the girls were standing around and talking. There was one boy who stood out to me from the rest. His name was Matt. I had to keep reminding myself that this was supposed to be the summer of no crushes because this boy was extremely cute and kept making me forget. His laugh was the most adorable sound I had ever heard. And he was so sweet to everyone.
I tried so hard not to develop another crush and end up being let down again because it would absolutely crush me. (spoiler alert: I did not succeed at not developing another crush).
