It was February 4th, 2017 and Matt and I had been dating since October 9th, 2016. I had had a very stressful week. It was filled with exams, deadlines, studying, and meetings. I was so happy it was finally Saturday and that the week was over. Matt said that he had something planned for the day and that it was a surprise. I got up at 8:00 am Saturday morning, got dressed and ready to go, and Matt picked me up at 9:00.
“What are we doing today?” I asked.
He handed me a clip board that had the alphabet translated into Morse Code. “You are going on a Morse Code scavenger hunt.”
That sounded like so much fun! It was a surprise and a scavenger hunt, two things I greatly enjoy! He gave me an index card that had a message written in Morse Code on it. I decoded the message. “Go to Tim Hortons and order coffee.” Tim Hortons will always be a special place to us because that was where we had our first date.
At Tim Hortons, I ordered a french vanilla cappuccino and Matt ordered a breakfast sandwich. We took our food out to the car and Matt pulled the next clue out of his to-go bag. I decoded it and it took us to our second date. It was a park in Delaware, Ohio. The card there took me to our third date, Hayden Run Falls.

The last card took me to where Matt asked me to be his girlfriend, Mohican. We hiked on one of the paths to a small waterfall. We got to the waterfall and there was the final envelope. I began to decode.
“WILL YOU M-“
I stopped. I knew what it was going to say. I had so many thoughts running through my head. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening! I had to finish decoding because if I didn’t then I probably never would.
“WILL YOU MARRY ME?”
I looked up from the envelope to see Matthew on one knee with a ring in his hand.
“Will you marry me?” he asked.

I looked at him with the biggest smile on my face and tears in my eyes. “Yes!” I yelled as I jumped into his arms and we hugged each other so intensely. It was the greatest moment of my life at the time. I was the happiest girl in the world and was engaged to the most perfect man for me.
At the end of the month, I went to Florida with Matthew’s family. We went to Key Largo. My sister who lives in Florida, Scarlett, drove out to see us and take our engagement photos. (Scarlett is an amazing photographer and just an overall great person. I love her so much and miss her terribly.
