This whole month has been incredibly busy and stressful for me, which is why I haven’t been able to blog much. The semester is ending and I still have so many projects, exams, and papers to do! I am so ready for Christmas break…
Last weekend I celebrated my 21st birthday!! I just hung out with my husband and mom all day and honestly it couldn’t have been any better. I am an introvert so the ideal way for me to celebrate my birthday is by being around a few people I love.
The day started off great. Matthew made me pancakes in bed (my all time favorite food).
And after that he gave me my gift. He was so cocky about it, like he knew I would love it. He even claimed that I would like it better than any of the other gifts I had already received for my birthday, and I LOVE all my other gifts so I was shocked. But turns out he was right!! He bought me a clock from the Antique Mall in Delaware, Ohio! It is the most beautiful thing I own!! It is 100 years old and absolutely gorgeous!
I have a huge clock obsession. My dream is to one day own an antique grandfather clock. I am just fascinated with how they work and the beautiful art that goes into them. Just look at the magnificent wood work and the design on the glass! *Swoons*
I admired my clock and took several pictures of it for about 30 minutes. Then we went to the BMV so that I could upgrade to a big girl drivers license! *Insert: “I’m a big kid now” jingle here*
Then we went to Kroger so that I could make my very first wine purchase. I love wine. My family is Italian so we always have wine for the holidays and my mom lets me drink some. She let me try other alcoholic beverages and I do like them but I think wine is so much better. It is the best.
I only drink for the flavor. I have no desire to get drunk or to go to a bar and drink socially. I just like to sit on my couch, curled up in a ball under a blanket, and slowly sip on my wine. That is like the perfect evening for me.
We later went to the Antique Mall and spent like 2 hours in there and didn’t even get halfway through the store! Oh I just love antiques! My house will be littered with antiques some day. It’ll be like a mash between farmhouse, elegance, and antiques. Haha we will see how that ends up working out!
There were a few Abraham Lincoln objects in there. For those of you who don’t know this about me: I am OBSESSED with Abraham Lincoln. I actually have a whole shelf dedicated to him at home! (I know…I’m a weirdo). And at the store there was a huge bust of Abraham Lincoln! I wanted it so bad! But the shop had a leak and that area was closed off so I couldn’t check the price. 🙁
Matthew supports my Abe Lincoln obsession and actually finds things for me for my shelf dedicated to the honest man himself. We bought a bust of Abraham Lincoln as a moving in gift for ourselves when we got the keys to our apartment. Then we brought that bust on our honeymoon and created an Instagram account called AbeAllAround.
We didn’t end up getting anything because we want to go back and check out the rest of the store first. There were some beautiful pieces of furniture in there though that I will probably buy once we have a house.
Our last stop for the day was my mom’s house. We hung out there for a bit, played wii, table tennis, and helped set up the Christmas tree. It was a wonderful day and it couldn’t have been any better. 🙂
On Sunday, Matthew and I celebrated friendsgiving with our bible study group. We all brought food and had a huge feast and lots of fun! It was a wonderful weekend spent with so many great people and was a nice break from the stressful semester I’ve been having.
