2017 was a year filled with many firsts and a lot of growth. I started the year as twenty-year-old dating her first boyfriend and going to school. Now, I am beginning 2018 as a twenty one-year-old, married, living without my parents, and starting my last year of college.
As seen in my previous post, last year consisted of many wonderful memories. It was my favorite year by far.
This year, I’d like to focus on becoming a better me.
My motto for this year is “strive for progress, not perfection.” No one can ever achieve perfection on their own. It simply isn’t possible. The ONLY way someone can achieve perfection is if God gives it to them.
Progress, however, is always attainable. It can be achieved every day.
This year I am striving for progress. Here are some of my goals I have set for myself in order to do that:
To elaborate, I am putting a time limit on myself to get things done. When something comes up that I need to do, I am giving myself until the end of the month to do it. So many times I put things off and I end up having over 10 things to do because I waited so long to do anything. For example: My husband and I have been wanting to sell a few things. Those things have been sitting in our apartment for almost 5 months because we have been procrastinating. I need to motivate myself to get things done! (By the way, we finally put those things up on Facebook marketplace. If you want to buy cowboy boots or an air soft gun, contact me). 🙂
Read the Bible every day.
More specifically, finish the New Testament. I have tried to read the whole Bible in chronological order several times…I always lose motivation around Leviticus and Numbers. So this year I am going to start with the New Testament.
I have been wanting to volunteer, but again it is a problem from lack of motivation. Therefor, I made it a resolution to volunteer more!
Save up for a house.
My husband and I really badly want to buy a house this year before our lease is up (July). Fingers crossed it works out!!! We sat down and created a long-term budget over the weekend. If we stick to the budget, it looks promising!! But, I am also keeping in mind that some things are out of my control! If God’s plan is for me to stay in my apartment for another year or longer, then I will be OK with that. 🙂
At least one date night a month.
Between school, work, and visiting family (we both have very big and very close families who like to get together a lot) it can be difficult to find time for us to just go out on a date. My husband and I spend a lot of time together in the evenings at our apartment or a family members house, but we hardly go out. So this year, we will strive to go out on a real date at least once a month!
Work hard on my blog and Instagram account.
I want to build my blog and Instagram followers and become a well-known fashion account! I am hoping to be someone people can look up to for a modest style. You can still look fashionable while being modest! 🙂
Help my Matthew lose weight.
My husband has been trying to lose weight for a few months now but hasn’t made any progress. It is hard because it is freezing out (sometimes in the negatives!) and we don’t have any time to go to a gym. He sits all day at work. So during the cold season, I am going to work very hard on cooking right! We will start there, with eating healthier and snacking less! He doesn’t need to lose much at all, so we don’t need to go into any extreme dieting programs. Then, in the summer, we will go on many walks and jogs together. I will be his workout buddy!
So those are my goals for 2018! It will be a year filled with lots n lots of progress!!
What are some of your New Year’s Resolutions?
