Mini Vacation…

It is the last month of my first senior year semester.  The workload alone is enough to induce anxiety.  My anxiety got really bad last week.  I had a mental break down and it was one of the worst ones I’ve had in a while.  I’m going to be honest and say it wasn’t pretty.  I get myself worked up and overwhelmed.  I have so many finals to study for and papers to write.

Whenever I get this way, I just need to take a step back and pray.  Prayer is always my first step to feeling better.  I ask God for peace and to remind me that He is in control.  Then I map out everything I have to do.  That helps me to realize that I have plenty of time to get everything done.  I even have time to relax and enjoy myself!  So when Matthew asked me if I wanted to go to Hocking Hills with his family last weekend, my immediate response was “heck yeah!”

A get-away was just what I needed to distract me from my stress and anxiety.  We left on Friday in the evening and arrived at the Nutter Cabin before everyone else (we got first dibs on choosing a bedroom woot woot!).  As soon as we got there, I already felt myself beginning to relax.  We went outside and Matthew started a fire in the fire pit.  We just chilled there until the rest of the family arrived.

The next day we got up bright and early.  We ate a delicious breakfast that consisted of egg, bacon/sausage, and cheese sandwiches.  Then we got ready to go ride on the Tecumseh trails in the General and Ranger!  I borrowed a suit from Matthew’s cousin’s wife.  It was pink and perfect!

Matthew and I had to leave early so we followed everyone to the trails in my car.  We rode with Matt’s parent’s first in the Ranger.  It was so much fun, but made me pretty car sick and hurt my back.  Then we switched with Brett and Amber, Matt’s brother and his wife.  We rode in the General for the remainder of the time and it was a blast!

The trip was tons of fun and I’m glad we got to go on it.  I loved riding on the trails!  The weather was perfect and it couldn’t have been a better weekend.

If you are stressed or feeling overwhelmed, I highly recommend taking a mini trip.  It can just be one night somewhere.  I stayed in a cabin 2 hours away from home for one night and already feel immensely better.  We left the trails with the biggest smiles on our faces.

Whatever you have going on in your life, just remember that God is in control and He will take care of you.
