It has finally happened… We are in contract on a house! Let me just say, staying motivated and trusting God’s plan during this time was HARD. So many times I just wanted to give up.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
For those of you who follow my blog, you have read my previous posts about house-hunting and how difficult it has been (here and here). We had an offer get rejected on a house that I fell in love with. I cried and stayed home all weekend feeling depressed and defeated. It was hard to appreciate what God had already given me in that moment. It was hard to be thankful for what I have.
God didn’t give us the first house we put an offer in on, but that was actually a blessing in disguise! That house was built in 1901 and had a lot of work that needed to be done. There was a barn on the property that was already collapsing in on itself. The house was legitimately sinking. There was water damage in the ceiling…. it would have been a ton of work.
The house we are going to get is so much better! It is a little ranch house with 1,620 square feet and 3.4 acres of land. The lot is completely surrounded by trees and we will have no close neighbors. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and honestly the master bathroom is WAY bigger than I ever would have imagined in a house of this size! The walk in closet is huge. The kitchen is in the middle of the house and faces both living rooms. I love how open the layout is. The house is very plain which makes it the perfect blank slate for us to do whatever we want. I am so excited to see the before and after pics once we are done fixing up the house and making it our own!
Here are some pictures that were posted on the listing:
We are SO thankful for this opportunity to finally have our own home! This is the perfect first house for us. We are planning on living here for five years, put some equity into it, and then buy land and build our next, long-term home!
I’m excited to keep you guys updated on our journey of taking our house from drab to fab!
