I am not a “city girl”. I also don’t go around claiming to be a “country girl” either. I hate cities, I typically go for a more comfy look rather than heels and skirts, and I love living in the country with lots of land. However, I don’t think I’d like living on a farm, I hate cowboy boots, and I do like wearing dresses every now and then. I’d say I’m more of a happy medium between the two, but I do tend to lean more towards country girl.
I haven’t been to any cities in a long time, other than Columbus, Ohio, because that is where I live. But even then, I don’t go to downtown Columbus that often. I try to avoid it. I do not like the hustle and bustle of cities. Everyone is in a state of urgency. People tend to be more rude. And I typically do not enjoy my time while I’m in the city, I just feel stressed. So when Matthew told me that he found THE car that I’ve been wanting for years now, my dream car in my dream color, in Pittsburgh, PA, I was not looking forward to the trip.
Like I said, this is my dream car. It is such a random dream car, most people say that their dream cars are something out of reach or well over $50,000. My dream car is 5 years old and pretty affordable. But I seriously would not rather have any other car other than this one. So off to Pittsburgh we went.
I slept the whole drive there. I had just gotten off work. I work 12 hour night shifts so I was exhausted. We got to Pittsburgh and I remembered one of cities’ biggest redeeming qualities: The buildings. The skyscrapers. Pittsburgh was breathtaking. I loved the structure of the buildings. The bridges over the river. The hills that run throughout the whole city.
We arrived at the car dealership and after test driving the car, discussing finances, and negotiating, we were told that it was too late to actually buy the car that day. I was devastated! I did NOT want to ride in my old car for another three hours home and then three hours back another day when we could actually buy the car. But then I realized, we could come in the morning and just make a day out of it. We could drive the new car all around Pittsburgh and explore the beautiful city!
So that’s what we did. We returned to Pittsburgh, bought my dream car, and explored Pittsburgh. The buildings were amazing! The courthouse looked like a castle! It was insane!! We went to Mt Washington Park and got to look at the whole city. The park has overlooks on top of a very tall hill so that you can get a gorgeous view of Pittsburgh.
The drive home was wonderful in my new 2014 Buick Regal GS. It is the nicest car I have ever owned and I hope that it lasts me many years! Although the city was so much fun to explore, I was so glad to be home. I can only take the city for about a day, and then I’m ready to return to my nice and quiet home in the country.
